How do I play a YouTube video stream within a sign?

How do I play a YouTube video stream within a sign?

Create an embedded YouTube URL:
  1. Navigate to the YouTube video or stream that you would like to display
  2. Click the 'Share' button below the video panel, then the 'Embed' tab
  3. Click the 'Copy' button
  4. Open a text editor and paste the text
  5. Some text such as the following will appear:

<iframe width="560"height="315"src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/y60wDzZt8yg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

  1. Edit this text so that only the src URL between the double-quotes remains.  For example, the text above would become the following URL:

  1. Add the text ?autoplay=1 to the end e.g.

The resulting text is the URL that you should use within the Web View layer.  The '?autoplay=1' part ensures that the video will play automatically without requiring user input to click a 'play' button.

If you would like subtitles (where available), add '&cc_load_policy=1' to the end of the URL e.g.

https://www.youtube.com/embed/y60wDzZt8yg?autoplay=1&cc_load_policy=1

To complete the job:
  1. Open your sign in SignStix Creator
  2. Add a Web View layer using the Web View Tool in the panel on the left (a globe icon)
  3. Set the URL of the Web View to be the URL you constructed above
  4. In the Tool Options for the Web View, ensure that the 'interactive' box is ticked
  5. Also set the 'User Agent' to be 'Desktop'
  6. Publish and Deploy the sign
Please note:
  1. It is your responsibility to ensure that your usage of YouTube content is legal
  2. Playing web-based videos or streams in this way is intended for single screens.  It is not currently supported across video walls
